The 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐫𝐮𝐛𝐚 (WCA) continues its mission to plant 𝟗𝟎 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝟗𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲! 

On Saturday, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟖𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲, we held

𝟗𝟎 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝟗𝟎 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 – Third Planting Event

The 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐫𝐮𝐛𝐚 (WCA) continues its mission to plant 𝟗𝟎 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝟗𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲! 

On Saturday, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟖𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲, we held our third planting event in collaboration with 𝓑𝓪𝓷 𝓛𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓪 𝔂 𝓟𝓵𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓪 and O’Campos Landscaping & More at the Biblioteca National Aruba (BNA) in the Hof’i Joy. These trees were donated by WCA to the BNA from our Adopt a Tree fundraising. 

Our WCA members joined forces with family and friends who volunteered to ensure a successful planting morning. With great teamwork and effort, 20 trees were carefully planted contributing to a greener, more sustainable Aruba.

With this event, we have now planted a total of 46 trees, bringing us closer to our goal! A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Astrid Britten, Mr. Ronnie Alders, Mr. Ediberto O’Campos, Mrs. Anita Mijts-Aerts, Ban Lanta y Planta volunteers, our WCA members, family and friends who continue to support this meaningful project.

E donacion increibel aki tin un impacto directo riba nos muchanan di menos recurso y lo distribui Awg 15.000 pa tres aña consecutivo, esta pa 2024, 2025 y 2026.

E proyecto “𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝” ta un di e iniciativanan mas stima di WCA, dedica pa duna nos muchanan nan trahe esencial, specialmente pa temporada di fin di aña. Cu e sosten di Old Skool Bikers Aruba, nos por a amplia nos yudansa, garantisando cu mas mucha por celebra e temporada di fiesta cu alegria. 

“Nos ta sumamente agradecido na Old Skool Bikers Aruba pa nan generosidad y nan compromiso pa logra un cambio positivo den nos comunidad”, Reina Geerman, presidente di WCA a expresa. “Nan sosten ta refleha e spirito berdadero  di donacion y ta demostra con, trahando hunto, nos por mehora bida di esnan den necesidad”.

WCA tin mas di 60 aña ta haci e proyecto aki y e ta un dje proyectonan di mas grandi. Cada aña e lista di mucha ta bira mas largo y aña pa aña mester traha mas duro pa haya e fondonan necesario.

Presidente Reina a indica, cu WCA ta draai rond di donacion di comerciante, amistad, tambe tur miembro ta aporta n’e proyectonan. Pa december 2024 tabatin un forsa grandi, hunto cu e recaudamento di fondo, mas e entrada dje rifa di Old Skool, asina comision di Dress a Child a logra bisti casi 400 mucha.

E entregamento oficial di e donacion a tuma luga dia 31 di januari 2025 na e clubhuis di Old Skool Bikers na Ponton, unda miembro di ambos organisacion a reuni pa e acto simbolico di entrega di e check. E donacion ta marca un compromiso di tres aña di Old Skool Bikers Aruba p’e proyecto di “Dress a Child” di WCA.

Thanks to the incredible success of their recent raffle fundraiser, a total of AWG 45,000 was donated to the Women’s Club of Aruba. This remarkable contribution will be fully allocated to support Dress a Child in the years 2024, 2025, and 2026, helping hundreds of children across Aruba begin each school year with dignity, confidence, and the essentials they need to thrive.

Cu un plantamento simbolico di e prome mata na Biblioteca Nacional Aruba – Arubiana – Caribiana den Bachstraat kier enfoca riba mehoracion di Medio Ambiente na Aruba y pa laga un herencia duradero pa e generacion di futuro.

E acto di plantamento no solamente ta simbolisa e raiznan firme cu WCA tin den nos
comunidad, pero tambe su esfuerso continuo pa yuda nos medio ambiente. Durante e periodo di e directiva di 2024-2025, lo planta 90 mata na diferente luga riba Aruba.
E evento a tuma luga den presencia di miembronan di WCA, y bishitanan distingui for di Washington, presidente Internacional di General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC), Sra. Suellen Brazil y presidente Electo Sra. Wendy Carriker, famia di Sra. Quita Croes, prome presidente local di WCA, Sra. Astrid Britten, directora di Biblioteca Nacional Aruba, Sra. Zetsia Ponson, BNA Dept. Arubiana/ Caribiana Coleccion Special como tambe miembronan di Fundacion Ban Lanta y Planta.

𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧'𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐫𝐮𝐛𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐅𝐖𝐂 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐤
In celebration of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) National Day of Service, the Women's Club of Aruba (WCA) hosted their volunteer event today, ahead of the official observance on September 28. This year, the GFWC's theme focuses on the critical mission to end hunger, an issue affecting communities around the world. WCA joined this global effort by supporting the Fundacion Pa Nos Comunidad (FPNC), Aruba’s local food bank, with a meaningful volunteer activity this morning from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
With compassion and dedication, WCA members gathered at FPNC to assist in various tasks, such as organizing food supplies, sorting donations, and around 100 packaging essential food items for distribution to families in need. The Women's Club of Aruba's involvement is part of their longstanding commitment to service, aligning with the broader goals of the GFWC to support humanitarian causes worldwide.
Through partnerships with organizations like FPNC, the WCA continues to exemplify the core values of the GFWC by uplifting those in need and working toward a better, hunger-free future for all.

On Thursday, July 11th, a special ceremony took place at the Renaissance Convention Center, where His Excellency Governor Alfonso Boekhoudt, accompanied by his wife and honorary WCA member Hanneke Boekhoudt-Koetse,

Since 1940, the Women’s Club of Aruba (WCA) has proudly recognized the top graduates from all secondary schools across Aruba. On Thursday, July 11th, a special ceremony took place at the Renaissance Convention Center, where His Excellency Governor Alfonso Boekhoudt, accompanied by his wife and honorary WCA member Hanneke Boekhoudt-Koetse, attended alongside Minister of Education and Sports Endy Croes and his spouse, and Roberto Dijkhoff, Managing Director of Caribbean Mercantile Bank (the main sponsor of the event).

The event honored Aruba's top graduates from various types of secondary schools. WCA President Reina Geerman and Hanneke Boekhoudt presented the awards, which included the prestigious Shoco Award and other prizes, to these distinguished students.

Top graduates honored included students from VWO, HAVO, International School of Aruba, EPI, and EPB, among others.

The evening also featured a performance by Isdel Hyacinme, winner of the "Arte di Palabra 2024" competition in the "Rap" category, and special guest speaker Nigel Wix, a 2002 HAVO top graduate and now Regional Manager for IT Innovation and Technology at Aruba Bank N.V. and Orco Bank N.V., who shared his inspiring success story and advice with the students.

The Women’s Club of Aruba extends its deepest gratitude to all secondary school boards for providing the necessary information, as well as to the sponsors and volunteers who helped make this event possible. Special thanks go to the Student Awards Committee, led by Chairman Michella Steenvoorde-Laclé, and all who contributed to ensuring a memorable evening for Aruba’s brightest graduates.

In a heartwarming display of unity and community spirit, eight service clubs in Aruba came together for a transformative project named "Ambiente Feliz." This initiative, which saw the renovation of the Stichting Ambiente Feliz building and its surrounding fence, marks the first collaborative effort of such scale in over two decades. This project underscores the power of teamwork and shared vision and highlights the dedication of these clubs to supporting a vital community resource.

A Vibrant Makeover

Stichting Ambiente Feliz, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support for individuals with mental disabilities, was the beneficiary of this extensive renovation. Volunteers from each club gathered on a sunny weekend, armed with paintbrushes, rollers, and an abundance of enthusiasm. The building's exterior and interior received fresh coats of paint, transforming dull walls into vibrant canvases of color. Additionally, the fence surrounding the property was revitalized, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal, and ensuring a secure and pleasant atmosphere for the residents.

The project was more than just a facelift; it symbolized hope, care, and the positive impact of collective action. The building, now a beacon of brightness and positivity, stands as a testament to what can be achieved when diverse groups work together towards a common goal.

Teamwork at Its Best

The participating clubs—Rotary Club of Aruba, Lions Club of Aruba, Kiwanis Club of Aruba, Quota Club of Aruba, Women's Club of Aruba, and the Rotary Club of Aruba Sunrise—each brought their unique strengths and resources to the table. Coordination was key, as the clubs meticulously planned every detail, from the choice of colors to the allocation of tasks. Volunteers ranged from seasoned professionals to young members eager to contribute, all working side by side in harmony. Their camaraderie was evident in the laughter, shared stories, and the occasional friendly banter, turning the project into a memorable experience for everyone involved.
